Islamabad shooting case: Accused cops remanded into 2-day police custody

ISLAMABAD: The court on Monday (Today) handed over accused policemen Samiullah and Tariq who gunned down a resident of Mardan in Islamabad to police on a two-day remand.

The accused policemen surrendered after which legal investigation into the matter was launched.

Judicial Magistrate Amir Khalil approved physical remand of an official of the Eagle Squad, Samiullah and sent him into police custody.

Appearing before the magistrate, police requested the physical remand of the accused for interrogation.

The victim, who has been identified as Taimoor Riaz, was shot dead in Islamabad’s Sector I-10/1 in the early hours of Friday as he allegedly failed to stop at a checkpoint.

Around three to five officials were deployed at the picket. They signalled the driver to pull over the car but he ignored the direction and drove through.

Taimur received three gunshot injuries─ two in the back and one in the head.
