PMA organises workshop to better healthcare

A policy-making workshop was organised under the auspices of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore to prepare proposals for re-organization of service structure of every cadre of healthcare providers, health care delivery system, reasonable pay structure and changing trends of medical education.
Eminent professors of medical colleges participated in the workshop. PMA would extend these policymaking workshops to cohorts of associate professors, assistant professors, health managers and general cadre doctors. Blue print of their recommendations would be disseminated to high-ups for changing agenda into action.
PMA President Dr M Tanveer Anwar informed details of recommendations and told that participants reflected their concern on disappointing service conditions of every health component. Participants stressed to raise their resources to 5 percent instead of existing about 0.57. They said that this small chunk of resources too was spent on ill-visioned plans. Working groups recommended that new pay group approved by the central government should be adopted in all provinces.
PMA General Secretary Dr Izhar Ahmad issued details of workshop to the press and informed that recommendations were prepared in five working groups headed by Prof Zahid Niaz, Prof Abul Fazal, Prof Ajmal Naqvi, Prof Fauzia and Prof Abu Bakar. Coordination of these groups was monitored by PMA leaders; Prof Dr M Ashraf Nizami, Dr M Tanveer Anwar, Dr Shahid Malik, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Talha Sherwani and Dr Khalid Idrees.
