All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman Syed Ali Gilani, paying rich tributes to the victims of Kupwara massacres on the incident’s anniversary, demanded an impartial investigation into the gruesome massacres by international agencies.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Held Srinagar, thanked the people of Kupwara for observing a shutdown on the anniversary of the Kupwara massacre and said that it was heart wrenching to see the number of widows and orphans swelling in Kupwara district.

“The spirits of the people of Kupwara are commendable. They have suffered miserably at the hands of the Indian armed forces. We are duty-bound to safeguard all the sacrifices offered by the people of Kupwara,” he said.

Gilani said that a few self-centred persons were hell-bent on portraying a negative image about the Kashmiri freedom movement, and cautioned people against the evil designs of vested interests.

Referring to the shutdown on the anniversary of the Kupwara massacre, Gilani said, “Pro-India stooges stand exposed. The people have revived their support for the freedom movement and pledged that they won`t back down from their struggle.”

Meanwhile, the authorities continued to disallow Syed Ali Gilani from offering Friday prayers.

An APHC spokesman said Syed Ali Gilani continues to be under house arrest, as he has been, for the last four years.
