KP to set up modern lab for diagnosis of fatal diseases

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to establish a modern laboratory for the diagnosis of epidemics and fatal diseases.

According to a private news channel, an agreement in this regard was signed among the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department, National Institute of Health (NIH), and Khyber Medical University.

The laboratory will provide the facility of early diagnosis of diseases which will enable patients to arrange timely treatment.

In the first phase, the laboratory will provide hepatitis, diphtheria, cholera, malaria, leishmania, dengue, measles and flu diagnosis facilities, while in the second phase, polio, Congo and Ebola virus tests facilities will be made available.

The diagnosis facility of fatal diseases was earlier available only at the NIH in Islamabad.
