Minister distributes scholarships to minority students

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu distributed educational scholarships worth Rs 1.22 million to 46 talented students belonging to minority community of Faisalabad Division.

The minister distributed the checks during a ceremony held at Commissioner Office.

Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha, Director Colleges Rana Munawar, ACG Mahr Shafqatullah Mushtaq, Minority MPA Shahzad Munshi, Amanual Ghouri and the other representatives of minority community were present on the occasion.  Khalil Tahir Sindhu congratulated the recipients of the scholarships and acknowledged and appreciated the efforts and initiatives taken by Punjab government to promote education, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been encouraging the talented and able students by providing them with handsome scholarships, laptops and other awards which would help in bringing about the education revolution for the rapid development of the country, he added.

He informed that Punjab government had announced more scholarships for the minority students, and talented students could apply for the scholarships by 31st January.

The minister said that educational scholarships were being provided purely on merit basis with complete transparency.

Sindhu urged the students to focus on education and skills for prosperity of the country.

The minister said that the policy of 5% quota for the minorities in government jobs had been implemented in letter and spirits on the orders of the CM.

Sindhu thanked Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab CM for providing and protecting the rights of minorities.

Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha also congratulated the students selected for educational scholarships on merit.
