RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Labour and Social Development has announced that the employers who hold back the passports of workers without their written consent will be penalised.

According to the spokesman of the ministry, Khalid Abalkhail, a fine of 2000 Saudi riyals per worker will be imposed on the employer.

“The employer then has a month to rectify his status. The fine will double if he does not carry it out in time,” said Abalkhail as reported by  Saudi Gazette.
