Even after Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) banned Amir Liaquat Hussain from appearing on screen and issued orders to stop the broadcast of his show, the channel Bol defied the orders and allowed the host to appear on TV on Thursday night.
Aamir Liaquat went ahead with his show, hurling abuse at Pemra and criticising its decision to take his show off the air. As a result, Bol TV was taken off-air in certain areas of the country, while the show was broadcast uninterrupted in other localities.
“Amir Liaquat and his programme has been banned with immediate effect for preaching hate,” according to a notification issued by the Pemra.

The authority stated that it took this decision after it found that Liaquat has violated several clauses of Pemra Ordinance and Rules in his programme which the authority had been monitoring for several weeks.
The Pemra statement made it clear that if Amir Liaquat “continues to abuse freedom of speech and violates PEMRA Code of Conduct 2015, PEMRA Ordinance 2002, Rules and Regulations on any other TV channel(s), the Authority shall invoke Section 27 of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 against that TV channel.”
Lawyer and Human Rights Activist Jibran Nasir on Thursday filed an FIR against TV anchor Amir Liaquat Hussain and BOL TV network under anti-terrorism act (ATA) for intimidating the public and spreading religious hatred.
