Some months back, the prime minister had announced that the federal government would construct more than 40 hospitals to be located across the country.
As a follow up of this much appreciated announcement, the National Assembly was told by the Federal Minister concerned that these would be state-of-the-art hospitals, established in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA as well as Azad Kashmir.
Time has passed, but it’s unknown whether construction of these hospitals has been started or not.
It’s also unknown how many of these are going to be established and funded by the federal government in each of the afore-mentioned regions.
If these hospitals are still at the planning stage, it will be good that the federal government undertakes their construction in close coordination and cooperation with the respective would-be-beneficiary governments which are in a much better position to say where these hospitals are needed most and.
