Three suspects arrested in minor girl’s rape case

Inspector General of Police Sindh A D Khawaja on Saturday held a meeting to review the progress made in investigations into the alleged rape and attempted murder case of six-year-old girl who was found in injured condition from a drain in Korangi Crossing area on Thursday evening.

The meeting was informed that three suspects have been detained for questioning. “The held suspects belonged to the same neighbourhood where the girl resided,” the Sindh police chief told a private news channel.

It was decided in the meeting to conduct DNA samples of the held suspects.

Khawaja told a private news channel that he has directed the police investigators to focus on scientific basis of probe instead of relying on traditional methods of torture.

Meanwhile, the doctors said that the condition of the girl who was admitted in the trauma centre of Civil Hospital Karachi was now out of danger.

“The girl was now in stable condition,” said medical superintendent of Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr Zulfiqar Siyal.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had already taken suo moto notice of the rape and torture case of the minor girl.

The CJP had directed the Sindh inspector general of police, AD Khawaja, to submit a report on the incident within 48 hours.
