After taking suo moto notice of the rape and torture of a six-year-old girl in Karachi by CJP Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday, an investigation was carried out which initially revealed that the minor was mentally disabled, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Chief investigator SSP Rao Anwar claimed that the suspect had chosen the victim for bad motive because of the fact that she, if survived, could not identify him due to her mental disability.
“The rape and torture victim suffered a mental disability,” Malir SSP Rao Anwar told this scribe. “The suspect had chosen the girl for rape, keeping in view that she would not be able to identify him because of mental disability,” Anwar maintained.
‘We are suspecting involvement of a relative or neighbour in this case, because attempt of murder after rape suggests that the suspect feared that though she was mentally disable, but she could identify him,” Anwar added.
“We have taken a suspect into custody from the neighborhood for investigation,” the SSP said, adding, “The parents of the victim didn’t nominate anyone in this case, but we are taking every suspicious person into custody to take this case to a logical end.”
Giving details of the victim parents, the SSP said that her mother works in a factory and her father is working for a Quetta-based company. Her mother claimed that she left for her workplace, and victim, as per routine, left the home to play in the street.
It is worth-mentioning that Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday took suo moto notice of the rape and torture of a six-year-old girl in Karachi.
The CJP directed Sindh IGP AD Khowaja to submit a report about the incident within 48 hours. Unidentified suspect or suspects raped the girl and later tried to kill her but the child ─ who was found in a drain in Ibrahim Haideri area on Thursday evening ─ survived, fortunately.
The girl was initially taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, which referred her to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where her medical examination was carried out by a lady doctor, said Medico-Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Mubarak Pathan.
The doctor said the minor girl was raped and later the suspect(s) tried to kill her as her throat was slit.
