The Punjab government will purchase four million tonnes of wheat from growers in the province against the 3.5 million tonnes of wheat procurement target given to the province by the federal government, Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor told the Punjab Assembly on Monday. Ghafoor ruled out all speculations of the opposition that the government had no policy for procuring wheat, saying the Punjab chief minister had directed to buy 4 million tonnes of wheat from growers.
