Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik on Monday disposed off a petition for recovery of an alleged missing person as the Crime Investigation Authority (CIA) police informed that he was wanted in several crime cases and was in the police custody. On last hearing after CIA Superintendent Police (SP) Umar Virk expressed ignorance about the whereabouts of the missing person, the judge directed Lahore Capital City Police Officer to personally look into the matter of alleged illegal detention of the citizen and ensure his recovery by next date hearing.
On Monday, appearing before the court, the CIA SP informed the court that more than 15 cases were registered against Hafiz Ahsanullah, husband of the petitioner Shumaila, to Shahdara and Factory area police and said that Hafiz was in the custody of Factory area police.
At this, the judge disposed off the petition and issued directions to the police to act according to the law against the accused. The petitioner had alleged that the police had arrested her husband and shifted him to some unknown place. She said the police was reluctant to disclose the whereabouts of her husband and expressed apprehensions that the police might kill her husband in a fake encounter.
