Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday presided over a meeting to review law and order situation in the province and measures taken for the implementation of National Action Plan.
Home secretary and Punjab police inspector general briefed the meeting. Provincial Ministers Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Jahangir Khanzada, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Advisor Dr Umer Saif, chief secretary and concerned officials attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that Punjab government has taken solid steps for the improvement of law and order as the protection of life and property of the people is top priority of the government therefore; police should perform its duties efficiently for crushing criminal elements and special attention should be paid to patrolling for checking street crimes.
The CM said that Punjab government has constituted Dolphin Force for monitoring street crimes and Punjab is the first province where counter-terrorism force has also been set up for taking effective measures for the eradication of terrorists and their facilitators. The brave officials of this force foiled the terrorist plan, he added.
The CM said that Punjab Safe City Project has been launched in the city and this project will be started in other six big cities of the province this year.
The CM said that the effective steps have been taken under National Action Plan for the eradication of terrorism and extremism and the laws have been made stringent after necessary amendments for eliminating sectarianism, terrorism and extremism.
He directed that law of ban on loudspeaker and literature containing religious hatred to be strictly implemented. The subjects on the topic of promotion of peace, brotherhood and accommodation have been included in the educational curriculum, he added.
Eradication of terrorists and their facilitators is the mission of the government, he concluded.
