The Punjab chief secretary (CS) has formed a high profile committee to determine the responsibility of deaths that occurred during the strike of young doctors who closed down the emergency and indoor wards of all major hospitals, Pakistan Today has learnt. The move came in response to the Lahore High Court (LHC)’s direction to the CS to fix the responsibility of deaths during the strike.
The committee consists of Justice (r) Amir Raza Khan, UHS VC Malik Mubashar, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal and the Communication and Works secretary. The committee has to submit its report within 30 days of the issuance of the notification. The terms of reference in the notification further tasks the committee to find out whether closing down emergency wards of hospitals was justified besides other issues or not.
