Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that no development is possible without resolving the energy problem while addressing the inaugural ceremony of new Gas Processing Plant in Sanghar.

The Gambat South Gas Processing Plant will provide 50 million cubic feet of gas per day and completed at the cost of Rs 17 billion.

The minister said, “Another gas processing plant is under construction and will be completed within next year costing Rs 8 billion.

“PPL Managing Director has been directed to give the locals employment on merit and the residents of areas be extended the gas facility,” said Shahid.

“LNG is being imported to fulfil the gas requirements and three prominent international gas companies are ready to set up LNG terminals in Pakistan,” he said.

Later talking to media, he dispelled the impression that with CNG pumps owners determining the price on their own would result in the price hike.

“It would result in competition and the benefit would go to the people,” he said.
