Provincial Education Minister Muhammad Atif Khan on Friday directed concerned officials to expedite work on Girls Cadet College Mardan and complete within stipulated period for imparting quality education to girls.
Presiding over a meeting with regard to the cadet college, the minister said the PTI-led government was seriously making efforts to complete the college within one year’s time which would be one of the best educational institutions for girls in order to support them for socio-economic development of the country.
He directed that utmost efforts should be made that the project faced no hurdles for its timely completion in terms of funds or any other as his government wanted it built at any cost.
The minister said the project cost was Rs 3 billion and it would be completed in record time of one year, adding regular classes would start in temporary building from the ongoing academic year.
He said that PTI-led government was focusing on promotion of education for girls as the same had been reflected in new education policy, providing for increasing rate of girls schools up to 70 percent, besides expanding network of women universities to each district of the province.
He said the government was also promoting digital literacy with equipping around 500 schools with inter-activate boards in higher secondary schools so far, adding, the facility would be extended to more schools during the current financial year.
Secretary education Dr Shehzad Bangash, special secretary Qaiser Alam besides other concerned officials of various departments attended the meeting.
