Christian communities of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have almost completed their preparations for the upcoming celebration of Christmas to be celebrated on Sunday.

Most of the shopping centres are full with variety of Christmas gifts, decorative items, Christmas trees and to ornate homes and churches.

Children, along with their parents, throng markets to get their favourite items for celebration of Christmas and to have fun with their kins and friends on this special eve.

The Christmas trees are being decorated to welcome the arrival of Santa Claus.

The Christmas tree is a symbol of happiness and an important part of the event that promotes brotherhood and love.

Special services would be organised in the churches of the city in which sermons would be made to welcome this festive occasion.

A number of events would be organised in different places where people would gather to share their happiness with the community members.

Almost all churches have been decorated with colourful lights while one can also see the illuminating homes and churches.

Naila Farah, an employee of a private organisation said, “Christmas preparations start with the advent of the December and they send invitations to friends and relatives to come and join them on this occasion”.

She said children wait for their Christmas gifts and see their relatives as it is a major celebration and they get time to spend with the family to strengthen their bonds of affection with each other.
