The spread of the mysterious disease continued on Tuesday, as another 1000 patients with complaints of high fever and joint pain were admitted to Saudabad Hospital.

According to reports, patients at the hospital are buying medicines and syringes from medical stores due to inadequate facilities at the hospital.

Blood samples of the patients have been sent to Islamabad for the identification of the disease.

Meanwhile, staffers of a malaria control program carried out anti-mosquito sprays in the hospital, causing breathing problems for patients.

Medical experts say that this disease causes high fever in the beginning and severe joint, disabling the afflicted for three days. They revealed that the disease spreads through mosquito bites and that precautionary measures should be taken to prevent mosquito bites.

Earlier, Sindh Health Minister Dr Sikandar Mandhro visited Saudabad Hospital and declared a state of emergency in Malir after the outbreak of the still unidentified disease.
