Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid e Azam (PML-Q) and former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has urged opposition political parties to shun their ego, set aside personal and party interests, and join hands with other political parties for collective efforts towards the betterment of the country.

Talking to party leaders and workers at his residence here on Sunday, Parvez Elahi said that progress and prosperity do not come with high profile projects but with projects leading to the welfare of the people.

“Opposition leaders are aware of the dangers and challenging confronting Pakistan, but to tackle these challenges they will have to come together and all parties will have to sit together instead of singing their own songs and announcing protests separately,” he said.

He said that we will have to block way of those who are isolating country internationally, establishing a kingdom in the name of democracy, establishing monopolies in every institution, and sacrificing national interests for personal interests.

He said that for the welfare and prosperity of the poor, workers and farmers, and for establishing the supremacy of democracy, the constitution and law, all parties will have to end their differences.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that by looking at the history of Pakistan, it becomes very clear that alliances have often been adopted for getting rid of self-centered rulers and that these alliances have been successful.

“We have been emphasising on an alliance between all opposition parties from day one. Instead, the government is drawing full benefit from the disorder among us,” he said.
