Inquiry report of a judicial commission, that investigated 2014 gun attack on senior journalist and anchorperson Hamid Mir in Karachi, was leaked here.
“We find that there was complete failure on the part of all the law enforcing agencies in the performance of their duty to properly investigate the instant case,” the commission report states on page 37.
Leak of the 41-page report came a day after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan questioned the release of what he termed a ‘one-sided’ inquiry commission report on the Aug 8 terrorist attacks in Quetta and vowed to confront its contents at all forums, including parliament and the Supreme Court.
On federal government’s request, then chief justice of Pakistan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani had formed the three-member judicial commission to probe the attack in which Hamid Mir was injured.
The inquiry commission comprised of Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali (President), Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan (member) and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman (member).
The government had also announced a reward of Rs 10 million for anyone who came forward to provide information that could lead to the capture of the attackers.
The last such commission was constituted by the PPP government in June 2011 to investigate the murder of journalist Saleem Shahzad.
