The Punjab University’s (PU) Academic Staff Association (ASA) has demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to immediately dismiss Iqbal Town SP Adil Memon from service and appoint an honest police officer in his place.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, ASA President Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain, and others say that the SP was openly protecting the criminals involved in disrupting the peace of the campus.

“Since the SP has not taken any action against criminals of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT), it clearly shows that he is providing them with shelter.”

The statement adds that the SP did not have etiquette to talk to teachers and that the registration of an FIR against university security guards showed a personal grudge.

“The university administration has repeatedly submitted medico-legal documents on behalf of the injured security guards, yet the police refuse to register an FIR.”

The ASA called upon the chief minister to take notice of the actions of the Iqbal Town SP and take strict action against him.
