National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Director General (DG) Karachi Lt Col (r) Sirajul Naeem has lauded the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) for its initiative of adopting abandoned projects as shelters for the homeless.

He was addressing a seminar organised by the ABAD on “Transparency and Accountability for Improvement of Construction Industry in Pakistan” as the chief guest here on Thursday.

The seminar was attended by dignitaries from various fields including government functionaries, builders, and developers. Anti-Corruption Establishment Chairman Ghulam Qadir Thebo and Sindh FIA Director Asim Khan also participated in the seminar.

Sirajul Naeem said that for one window operations demanded by builders and developers for the regulation of construction projects is long overdue and that the reduction in human contact would reduce chances of corruption.

“This recommendation is the part of the NAB’s study on the subject,” he said. “The NAB will compile its study regarding the construction industry and forward it to the government of Sindh for the formulation and improvement of regulations.”

The DG also promised to take up the matter of water mismanagement in Karachi.
