Every political leader, be he in the government or in the opposition, as well as every person living and breathing within the geographical territory of Pakistan must have positive national thinking in all matters and always keep the national interests of the nation and the country as very near and dear to their hearts and do nothing contrary whatever do or say in their statements.
A few days back while talking to media in Islamabad, Maulana Fazl ur Rahman is reported to have said that the National Action Action has no significance as such. In making such an irresponsible statement he perhaps forgot that when 20 points National Action Plan was formulated to counter terrorism and militancy and extremism and launched for implementation in the right earnest at the federal and provincial levels, every political and religious party represented in the parliament was taken on board and all had unanimously endorsed and gave go ahead signal to the security related and law enforcing agencies for NAP implementation. Now, such an irresponsible statement – and that too from an ally of the federal government is highly uncalled for.
And, Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahir ul Qadri, whose party has no representation in the federal and provincial legislatures, while talking to the media at Karachi airport on yet another return to from Canada had reportedly stated that the ongoing operation in Karachi will not be successful unless sanctuaries of terrorists in the Punjab are eliminated.
In my opinion, if at all Maulana Fazl ur Rahman had some reservations about the NAP he should have brought these to the notice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is personally monitoring progress and achievement under NAP and if Dr Tahir ul Qadri had some concrete information about what he called “sanctuaries of terrorists in the Punjab”, he should have brought this to the notice of the law-enforcing agencies instead of making public statements.
Both Maulana Fazl ur Rahman and Dr Tahir ul Qadri, by making such quite unexpected irresponsible statements have only strengthened the hands of the enemies of the nation and the country and undermined the great sacrifices being offered in the war on terror by officers and jawans of Pakistan Armed Forces and all security and law enforcing agencies, to say the least.
