CM REVIEWS PACE OF ‘SAAF PANI’ PROJECT

The Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the ‘Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Project’ is a splendid public welfare project for the supply of potable water to the masses.

He was presiding over a meeting to review the pace of ‘Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Project’ in Lahore on Tuesday.

Malik Nadeem Kamran and Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chairman Punjab Saaf Pani Company South Muhammad Kashif MPA, Chairman Punjab Saaf Pani Company North Major (Retd.), Tahir Iqbal MNA, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development and concerned officials attended the meeting. Provincial Minister Tanvir Aslam Malik participated in the meeting through a video link from Chakwal.

He said that the implementation and the execution of this program should be in a professional manner rather than traditional manner so it could start benefiting people as soon as possible.

The chief minister said that the potable water is a right of every citizen, however, not enough attention was paid to this important issue in the past as a result large number of people have been deprived of this basic facility.

He said that the Punjab government has started ‘Saaf Pani Project’ at a cost of billions of rupees and the completion of this project will result in the availability of clean drinking water to the people besides disease caused by polluted water will also be controlled.

The CM said that this is a vital project and should be implemented in a professional instead of traditional manner. He expressed displeasure over the handling of matters in a non-professional manner related to an implementation of the program.

He also constituted a committee to investigate into the increase in the estimated cost. He said that the interest of the people is very dear to the government, therefore, no negligence or laxity will be tolerated towards this project.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the project will be completed in a transparent manner under the policy of a Punjab government and proper utilization of every penny of public money will be ensured.

Issuing the instructions to Punjab Saaf Pani Company, the Chief Minister directed that all efforts should be made for the early completion of this project

He informed that he is personally monitoring progress of this program of public Provincial Ministers
