Minister of State for Federal Education Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman said that the reading is a key to learning on the workshop arranged by Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) on Tuesday.
On the Framework for Reading, Improvement Strategies arranged by USAID’s Pakistan Reading Project (PRP), he lamented that the reading culture is vanishing over the period of time and it is not good for the children.He said the reading is a fundamental component of learning as the first word taught in Quran was ‘Iqra’ which means ‘read’.

According to the Education for All (EFA) Global Monitoring Report, the students who do not achieve a certain level of the education fall behind in the cognitive development.
“We need a holistic approach to deal with the educational challenges and it’s heartening to see such workshops” he remarked.
The minister appreciated the dedication and efforts by PRP and the team of USAID for arranging the workshop.
He thanked the officials from different regions for participating in this important workshop adding that “we all are here to have a far-reaching impact on education sector”.
The minister hoped that this workshop would lead to the formal endorsement of the national framework for reading improvement strategies in the country.
