Sindh govt committed to freedom of expression: Chandio

Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Information Moula Bux Chandio has said that the provincial government is committed to freedom of expression as it firmly believes that the democracy and independence of media go hand-in-hand.

Talking to a delegation of Karachi Press Club (KPC) which called on him at the CM’s House on Saturday, Moula Bux Chandio said that media in Pakistan was not only independent but also highly vibrant in shaping public opinion and raising awareness among the masses about various issues.

He said that the Sindh government was fully cognizant of the security needs of media houses and journalists. It was making all possible efforts to create amiable atmosphere where media persons could perform their professional duties without any fear, he added.

He further said that the media in Pakistan enjoyed freedom more than anywhere in the world. He urged the media to play positive role and highlight achievements of the government, which would ultimately strengthen democracy in the country.

On the occasion, Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah handed over a cheque of Rs 25 million to KPC President AH Khanzada in a simple but impressive ceremony.

AH Khanzada and other senior journalists presented a souvenir shield to CM Murad Ali Shah and Moula Bux Chandio on the occasion.
