US extends condolences to families of PIA plane crash victims

US State Department Deputy Spokesperson, Mark Toner, while briefing the newsmen in Washington on Wednesday extended condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight PK-661 crash.

Mark Toner further said that the United States is also ready for assistance in a rescue operation and investigation of the deadly plane crash.

Mark Toner informed that Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi met with the US under secretary of state Tony Blinken on December 5 and discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues, including regional stability and counterterrorism cooperation.

Responding to another question, Toner said that US will continue to encourage Pakistan and Afghanistan to cooperate in their counterterrorism operations and efforts because that is only going to contribute to regional stability.
