The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi, organised an Anti-Corruption Walk here on Tuesday in line with the International Anti-Corruption Day which is observed every year under the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), and the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) actively collaborated with NAB Karachi in organising the event.
The Anti-Corruption Walk commenced from the floating ship point and ended at Nishan-e-Pakistan Park at Karachi beach.
A large number of people from all walks of life participated in the walk including, politicians, bureaucrats, educational institutions representatives, government officials, members of civil society and the general public.
The DG NAB (Khi) Lt Col (R) Siraj ul Naeem while delivering the welcome speech expressed his gratitude to the participants and highlighted the importance of public awareness events.
He said that currently, the NAB (Khi) has no case pending older than one year. Highlighting the role of all stakeholders and public representatives, he said that the government and opposition will have to join hands to eradicate the menace of corruption from society.
Talking to the media, Siraj ul Naeem said that during the current year NAB Karachi had recovered Rs.1739 million and returning it to the respective government departments to which it belonged.
He also reiterated the resolve of the NAB to rid society of corruption.
