Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police has busted a gang of dacoits involved in striking at various areas of the city and recovered weapons, a car and motorbike from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani asked SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas to ensure arrest of those involved in dacoities following which a special team headed by DSP CIA Bashir Ahmed Noon, ASI Suleman Shah, Constables Ali Asghar, Maajiz Shah and Waseem Iqbal was constituted.
This team worked hard and succeeded in busting a gang of seven criminals including five Afghan nationals involved in dacoities.
The nabbed persons have been identified as Said Wali alias Mama, Nur alias Zafar, Jehanzeb Khan alias Khaista Khan Deewana, Sher Khan, Hamid Khan residents of Afghanistan, Irfan resident of Rawalpindi and Sab Khan resident of Tehsil Ghazi Haripur. Police team recovered one Kalashnikov, two 30 bore pistols, rented Corolla car and new motorbike from them.
During the preliminary investigation, they confessed to committing dacoities in various areas of sectors G-6, Media Town, National Police Foundation, Bahria Enclave, Naval Anchorage and taking away cash worth Rs. 800,000 after breaking mirror of car in sector F-7/1.
The SSP of Islamabad Sajid Kiani has appreciated this overall performance of SIU team and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for members of police team.
