The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) on Sunday cancelled parliamentarian Ali Raza Abidi‘s basic party membership for “breaching the party policy”.
“Ali Raza has been expelled from the party for continuously breaching the policy after August 22nd, despite warnings,” a statement released by the party said.
Sources say that the decision was taken after Abidi, an MNA from NA-251 Karachi, was found to have been in touch with the party’s pro-Altaf Hussain faction based in London.
Abidi has also been asked to resign from his National Assembly seat by his now former party.
MQM-P completely cut off ties with Altaf following his August 22nd anti-Pakistan speech.
The 'purge' is first in MQM Pakistan. If having contact with London was the reason, more 'purge' can be expected because many more are in contact with the MQM founder. A very popular political leader of Pakistan, Sheikh Rashid says that 'eliminating' Altaf Hussasin from MQM will not be possible.
