Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) issued a notification here on Monday in which the administration gave directions to all the directorates running under the umbrella of MCI to deposit revenue in the account of “Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad” bank of Punjab, blue area Islamabad.
Local government elections were held in November 2015, and in February 2016 the mayor was announced and MCI was established. Since then, the MCI running with the budget of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), even getting salaries from the CDA and directorates were reporting to the MCI administration.
There is a budget of 9 billion for MCI to run 23 directorates of civic issues, which is still not issued to the MCI. Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) is also reporting to the MCI but due to the non-availability of proper service regulation and bank account, they used to deposit the revenue generated through advertisements to the account of the CDA.
The notification was issued by the Director Council, to ensure remittances, revenues, earnings and LC’s etc., within the jurisdiction in the following account, instead of depositing them to the CDA.
