Chinese envoy hails new appointments in Pak Army

APP39-21 ISLAMABAD: May 21 – China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a mutually beneficial giant initiative for China and Pakistan, would immensely help latter to materialize its dream of becoming an 'Asian Tiger'. After last year's visit of Chinese President, Xi Jinping to Pakistan, there was a smooth implementation of projects under the CPEC framework. Energy, infrastructure, Gawadar port and industrial cooperation were important components of CPEC which were being implemented smoothly and within a few years, there would be more achievements in this regard, he said in a joint interview with APP, PTV and PBC in connection with 65th anniversary of the establishment of Pak-China diplomatic relations. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong expressed his heartfelt felicitations over the appointments of General Zubair Mahmood Hayat and General Qamar Javed Bajwa as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) respectively.

According to a press release issued by Chinese Embassy here on Monday, Ambassador Sun sincerely wished General Zubair Mahmood Hayat and General Qamar Javed Bajwa success and looked forward to greater development of the cordial relations between the two countries and their armies during their tenure.

Ambassador Sun Weidong expressed congratulations to Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on his achievements and contribution to peace, stability and development of Pakistan during his tenure. Ambassador Sun highly appreciated the great importance attached and valuable contribution rendered by General Raheel Sharif to the promotion of the friendship and cooperation between two countries. He also extended gratitude to General Raheel Sharif for his support and commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He also expressed sincere congratulations to former CJCSC General Rashad Mahmood on his achievements and contribution to the military and nation of Pakistan. He highly appreciated the commitment and contribution of General Rashad Mahmood to the military-to-military relations between China and Pakistan during his tenure.
