Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq will almost certainly be ruled out of the second Test against New Zealand, as he prepares to return home because of the sad demise of his father-in-law.

The 42-year-old batsman’s wife confirmed the sad news on Twitter and asked everyone prayers for her father.

Earlier, Misbah, along with his family, decided to return home after media reports claimed that father-in-law was critically ill.

Misbah, who has capped Pakistan in 50 Tests, is unlikely to participate in the second Test against New Zealand in Hamilton, which begins on Friday.

Pakistan lost the first of two-match Test series against New Zealand in Christchurch on Sunday, as they were defeated by eight wickets by the hosts during fourth day’s play.

ODI captain Azhar Ali is expected to replace Misbah in the second Test.
