Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Saturday visited the family of the late Pakistan People’s Party leader Jahangir Badar to console them.
Jahangir Badar, 72, was a Pakistan Peoples Party’s senior leader who breathed his last a week ago.
Accompanied by his son Hussain Nawaz, the prime minister was received by Badar’s son Ali Badar on their arrival at his residence here.
During interaction with the bereaved family, the prime minister offered fateha and prayed for forgiveness for the departed soul and courage to them to bear the loss with equanimity.
Later, talking to the reporters, the prime minister said that besides being a good politician, Jahangir Badar was a gentle human being, who used to converse respectfully even with the political opponents.
“I had a very old association with him. Now he has gone to the eternal abode. I have very good memories of him. He was true and straightforward. I love such people,” the prime minister remarked.
Nawaz Sharif said that though Badar had departed, his association with the family would continue. This relation was established several years ago and he had also attended the wedding of Badar’s son, the prime minister recalled.
He said that the country’s fate could be changed if all the politicians become straightforward like Badar.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Ahmad Hassan was also present on the occasion.
Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo also Saturday visited the family and expressed his grief with the bereaved family.
PPP leaders Senator Rehman Malik and former defence minister Naveed Qamar and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman Absar Alam also visited the residence and offered fateha.
