Counter Terrorism Department arrests two target killers in Karachi

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested two target killers and recovered weapons during targeted action here on Wednesday.

SSP CTD Naveed Khawaja said that after a tip regarding the location of the criminals, an operation was conducted in Korangi area.  He said that Imran and Zahid, the arrested, belong to the Raees Mama group and are wanted for several crimes. Zahid admitted to killing five people from a rival group in Korangi in 2011, the SSP said, adding that Zahid also killed three people on orders of his unit in-charge Irfan in 2009.

The other target-killer, Imran, was released from prison under NRO, SSP Naveed Khawaja said, adding that Imran was involved in the Chakra Goth tragedy in which three police officials were martyred and over 27 people were injured.

The suspect was also wanted for the killing of PPP and MQM workers, the official added.

The two are being interrogated and cases have been registered against them.

Meanwhile, the crackdown under the National Action Plan (NAP) continues in Karachi as four suspects were taken into custody during police operations in different parts of the city.

According to details, police conducted an operation in the Boat Basin area and arrested two suspects involved in street crimes. Police sources said that arms, a stolen motorcycle, and mobile phones were recovered from the two arrested.

Police also conducted an operation at the Super Highway and arrested another two. Police sources said that at least 144 bottles of liquor were recovered from those arrested. The arrested persons were shifted to the police station for further investigation.

A spokesman of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) said that Rangers conducted a raid near Nagan Chowrangi and arrested a leader of the ASWJ named Saheeb Nadeem. He was shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
