In order to clear the route for a government official, police officials reportedly assaulted disabled persons protesting in Hockey Chowk, Quetta.
The disabled protesters were demanding the implementation of a disabled persons quota, and other policies that would favour their normal inclusion into society.
“Four to five of our colleagues were injured by the police,” said Izatullah, a spokesman for disabled persons in Balochistan.
The disabled persons have been protesting for the past five months to press officials to accept their demands.
The district administration, after receiving news the assault, held dialogue with the protestors, and the Deputy Commissioner Abdul Wahid Kakar was able to convince the disabled persons to call off their protest.
