The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenging the victory of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in the NA-110 constituency.

The election tribunal had earlier decided in favour of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Khawaja Asif, who had won in the May 2013 general elections in NA-110 Sialkot. However, PTI’s Usman Dar had challenged the decision in the Supreme Court as the PTI sought an investigation into rigging allegations.

The hearing on electoral results of NA-110 was carried out by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali.

In an address on May 9, PTI chairman Imran Khan had claimed he would “knock off Khawaja Asif’s wickets”.

On June 20, Asif had requested the Supreme Court to decide his election case.
