Parliamentarians’ yearly assets’ assessment declared mandatory

Election Reforms Sub-Committee Chairman Zahid Hamid said on Thursday that the committee has made assessment of assets of parliament members mandatory.

The sub-committee meeting of election reforms committee was held in chair of federal minister for law.

Talking to media after the meeting, Zahid Hamid said that parliament members should inform regarding increase or decrease in their assets. While the Election Commission has objection over submitting tax returns details instead of assets details while assessment of tax returns was easy.

Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and the EC will decide the matter and will inform the committee, the Law minister added.

He said that the EC objections over election reforms draft have been resolved and election laws have been merged and new draft report has been prepared. While the report will be approved by the sub-committee and later it will be submitted to parliamentary committee.
