The Punjab government has lifted section 144 across the province, a day after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called off their Islamabad lockdown.

Earlier today PTI was issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Islamabad administration for their rally in Parade Ground.

An application was submitted by PTI seeking permission for holding the rally.

The party also presented an undertaking assuring that the rally will not exceed the Parade Ground premises.

Islamabad Police has made special arrangements to facilitate the public meeting of PTI.

Five hundred traffic police officials have been deputed for the purpose.

According to traffic plan, the vehicles coming from Peshawar will be given parking space at express highway on right side of zero points and service road of I-8/3 at Jaffar Khan Road.

Besides this, 9th Avenue , Faisal Avenue, Jinnah Avenue and Kashmir Highway could be used to travel between Rawalpindi and Islamabad .

Earlier on Saturday, Section 144 was imposed from 30 October to 8 November by Punjab government.

According to a notification issued by the Home Department of the Punjab government, strict action would be taken against anyone who violates Section 144. It was imposed ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) November 2 rally.

Under Section 144, a public gathering of more than five people would be considered a violation of the section.

Displaying and carrying weapons is also banned under the section. No one would be allowed to remove blockades placed by the police.

The imposition of Section 144 could not, however, prevent demonstrators from gathering in Rawalpindi and at the residence of PTI chairman Imran Khan in Bani Gala area of Islamabad.
