Yet again

“Go Nawaz Go”. Once again the chanters are ready. All set for another show overlooking the Margalla hills. The federal capital is gearing up for round two of the All Pakistan music and rave festival, as I would like to call it. Observers might disagree but I have noticed a fast matching trend between music artists around the globe and PTI leaders in Pakistan.

Copyright issues later made them swap the official name to ‘Dhandli unloaded’. Debut performance which scared away the Chinese president lasted four months (where were Shahbaz Sharif’s personal Guinness book of world records inspectors?)

As I drew an analogy earlier, listeners, but with a specific taste in music might be able to relate. Both Tiesto and Imran khan have one thing in common, they wave their fingers and the crowd sways. It’s almost magical seeing the overwhelming response. The difference is merely that Tiesto’s tunes are usually accompanied by serene voices such as Nelly Furtado. Khan, on the other hand, almost always plays backed by the ‘kameez teri kaali’ star Attaullah khan who performs live, bearing his moustache and traditional attire.

We may not have Lady Gaga or Katy Perry on stage but do not be sad, we do have Shireen Mazari filling in. After the successful (in their own eyes) 2014 launch, PTI set on to tour the entire country formulating their next album with a recent warm up performance near the Sharif residence in Raiwind. Time to realise, old boy Nawaz rather prefers the vintage classics of Kishore and Rafi so it’s high time the ‘kaptaan’ boys stop trying to impress him by staging performances as near him as they can.

Nevertheless PTI is all set to unveil their latest album ‘Panama’. Senior management of the PTI team was also seen rehearsing the chant with the crowd during one of the promo performances, PA-NA-MA. Stakes seem to be pretty high this time round though. The honourable Supreme Court, Pindi boys and others have expressed interest in the album set to launch on 3 November. Old boy Nawaz, though not so interested in this specific genre, needs to be careful since the lead track of ‘Panama’ targets him and the family.

In all honesty, I fail to understand what fantasy world Mr Khan lives in. How on earth is a federal capital of the country supposed to be shutdown ‘peacefully’?

State functionaries on one side, PTI club on the other. Poor old Pakistan will once again have to endure. Not even for a second do I support the government and their day to day activities. Yes, the prime minister is and should be answerable for all the corruption allegations. The allegedly looted and plundered wealth should be brought to the front. But using the Panama leaks to turn the tables in his favour is once again not going to work in Imran Khan’s favour. Even a four-year old would give up his demand for chocolate after being turned down so many times. But maybe someone flashes a lollipop every now and then to Imran khan, you never know.

Notice to the PM and his family by the Supreme Court, launching of the latest album by Mr Khan and General Raheel Sharif’s upcoming retirement; November indeed is going to be very interesting. Not to mention the petition in the Islamabad High Court to promote the chief of army staff to the rank of field marshal.

Reverting back to the launch, Khan sahib might need to request Madonna to campaign for him the way she is doing for Hillary Clinton. Looks like the crowd didn’t enjoy Sheikh Rasheed rapping on stage that much. Since his obsession with the prime minister house does not seem to go away, we all should suggest ways for him to achieve this task as his own anomalous ways don’t seem to be of much help.

You either resign from the assembly with the promise to never return but if for some reason you do eventually decide to revoke that decision and endure highly educated Khawaja Asif’s loving tirade, then the Constitution whose protection you so religiously seek demands you to be present in the assembly. PM Sharif is severely criticised for not attending parliament’s session by Khan sahib and his cronies every other day but last I heard it was them who boycotted a session solely discussing the Kashmir issue.

Is the Panama issue more prodigious than the barbarism faced by our Kashmiri brothers and sisters?

For personal gains and vendetta if PTI could not stand alongside the state and the legislature to give a consolidated message to the international community, then such egoistical mindsets are better off outside the parliament. Someone did truly state ‘a wooden stick does not bend, it simply breaks’.

Playing into the hands of others is also not the wisest of things to do. One must think that previous escapades may have knocked some sense into the bani gala quarters, but reality seems to disagree. Maybe they plan on learning the hard way, good luck to them.

Another thing about this club is that they seem to have never learned the words such as ‘patience’ and ‘tolerance’. They are ever ready to blast the entire political world apart from themselves in an instant but you dare not say anything to their leader. Another trait which a fractious teenager might easily relate to. Maturity in political decisions which was expected by many seems like an unachievable feat.
