South Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Suh Dong Gu on Wednesday announced that Pakistan and South Korea are set to conduct the first-ever strategic dialogue.

He was speaking at a reception held at the embassy to observe the National Foundation Day and the Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Korea. The statement of the Korean envoy comes amid the Indian claims of ‘isolating’ Pakistan economically and diplomatically.

Top luminaries from political, business and diplomatic corps were present at the embassy of South Korea on the occassion.

Federal Minister for Industries Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi was chief guest while Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Minister of State for Education and Interior Muhammad Baligh-ur Rehman, Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Miftah Ismail, BOI Secretary Azher Choudry, Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz, Additional Secretary of Foreign Affairs Zulfiqar Gardezi, China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong and other ambassadors attended the event.

“There was a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Park Geun-hye last year and economically, we are talking about free-trade agreement. We will have first strategic dialogue quite soon,” said the ambassador while addressing the gathering.

“I must confess that I am very happy to come to Islamabad at this time in terms of strengthening bilateral relationship between Korea and Pakistan,” he said.

The ambassador reiterated his country’s commitment to use this precious momentum to upgrade bilateral ties between Korea and Pakistan to a ‘new height’ during his term of office in Pakistan.

The plan of ‘Islamabad lockdown’ by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was the hot affair for the diplomats who kept trying to know from the journalists and the politicians and government officials present on the occasion about the prospects of the government’s future.

On the occasion, Korean food and drinks were served for the guests including Kimchi, Bulgogi, Soju and Makgully. The world famous Korean Music Group also performed on the occasion which had specially flown in the federal capital from Korea. The group played Korean traditional instruments.
