The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has installed an ATM at Khanjerab Pass at an elevation of 15,397 feet, making it world’s highest-altitude ATM anywhere in the world.
The National Bank hopes the ATM will serve the growing needs of tourists visiting Khunjerab Pass, bordering Pakistan and China.
The generator-powered ATM will be open during daylight hours year round — even through extreme winter conditions.
NBP has installed more than thousand ATMs across Pakistan including off-site ATMs on different locations.
With the newly installed ATM at Khunjerab Pass, Pakistan has outdone India for the world s highest ATM. Union Bank of India had placed an ATM at 14, 300 feet in Kupup in 2007.
