Sarkar 3: Jackie Shroff to play main antagonist to Amitabh’s Subhash Nagre

Actor Jackie Shroff has been roped in to play one of the antagonists in filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar 3, the third instalment in the widely popular Sarkar franchise starring Amitabh Bachchan.

Shroff, who has previously worked with the director in Rangeela.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma unveiled the first look of major characters of his upcoming film Sarkar 3 late Sunday.

“Jackie plays one of the main antagonists in Sarkar 3. He plays a character referred to as Sir,” Varma wrote.

He also confirmed that Sarkar 3 will witness the return of Amitabh Bachchan as the dreaded don, Subhash Nagre, but added that both Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who were part of Sarkar Raj, won’t feature in the third part. He also revealed that actors Manoj Bajpayee, Yami Gautham, Amit Sadh, Ronit Roy, Rohini Hattangadi and Bharat Dabholkar are part of the film.

Manoj Bajpayee will essay the role of Govind Deshpande, which, RGV said is “a slightly violent version of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal”.

Ronit Roy plays the right-hand man of Subhash Nagre, called Gokul Satam. Amit will be seen portraying Shivaji aka Cheeku. Bharat Dhabolkar will essay the role of Gorakh Rampur in the movie.

Interestingly, Rohini will be seen as one of the antagonists too. “Gandhi’s Kasturba plays an antagonist in Sarkar 3. Rohini Hattangadi plays Rukku Bhai Devi,” he shared. Varma revealed that Manoj Bajpayee’s character will be based on, “a very cranky and slightly violent version of (Arvind) Kejriwal”.

The actor has been approached for megastar Amitabh Bachchan-Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindostan.“Besides the main star cast, the film will also have a strong supporting cast. He (Jackie) has been approached for the film. He has liked the role and given a positive feedback to the team. But he is yet to sign on the dotted line,” sources said.

According to sources, the 59-year-old Ram Lakhan star will be seen in a pivotal role in the movie.

Sarkar 3, the third film in the Sarkar franchise, is all set to go on floors by the end of 2016.
