Representatives from PTI, PPP and JI agree to give tough time to government over corruption and Kashmir policy
The Panama Leaks and repeated violations of ceasefire agreement by the Indian forces at Line of Control (LoC) are going to take central stage in the upcoming session of the Punjab Assembly that has been convened soon after the Youm-e-Ashura. Almost all the political parties are submitting their resolutions against the Indian aggression and the false claim of surgical strikes made by the Indian government. Moreover, some political parties have also submitted resolutions demanding thorough accountability of all the political leaders including the prime minister in the aftermath of Panama Leaks.
“The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is going to submit its resolution demanding the Panama Act to investigate the financial corruption of the rulers,” parliamentary leader of Pakistan Peoples’ Party in the Punjab Assembly Qazi Ahmad Saeed said while talking to Pakistan Today. He told this scribe that PPP will not budge from its position of day one and will take the Panama Leaks to its logical end.
He was of the view that Opposition is united in the Punjab Assembly and there is no rift within the ranks of the opposition parties. “It was the decision of our central leadership that PPP did not participate in the Raiwind public meeting of Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaf (PTI) as our party had some reservations over the venue of the meeting,” he commented. However, he added that the PPP and PTI are on the same page against the issue of Panama Leaks but there are some differences related to the anti-government policies between these two parties.

Waseem Akhtar told Pakistan Today that he has submitted a resolution against the financial corruption of the rulers and purposed the death sentence must be awarded to those involved in this heinous crime. “The government should consult the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) and announce the death penalty after receiving the input from the council,” he said, and added that the process of accountability must start from the top leadership of the political parties including Jamat-e- Islami. Akhtar has submitted another resolution against the Indian atrocities in Kashmir and the violation of ceasefire by Indian forces at LOC. According to Akhtar, this resolution will be adopted unanimously as he is contacting other parties including the ruling party for the greater cause of Kashmir.
Moreover, a ruling party lawmaker has also submitted a resolution in the Assembly demanding a ban on the Indian movies and drama serials being aired on the Pakistani channels. This was submitted by a woman lawmaker from Treasury benches Hina Parvez Butt and it demanded a strong action against the cable operators and TV channels involved in the airing of Indian content in Pakistan.
Similar resolutions have also been submitted by the PTI and one by the leader of the opposition in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood-ur- Rasheed against the Indian aggression. “This house condemns the unprovoked firing by the Indian forces at LOC and pays a rich tribute to the bravery of Pakistan Army,” the content of the resolution says and demands a stern action against India from the United Nations.
A lawmaker from PTI Sadia Sohail Rana told Pakistan Today that it was decided in the parliamentary meeting of PTI that the Kashmir issue and Panama Leaks will be raised in the upcoming session of the Assembly vigorously. “There must be a complete boycott of cultural and business ties with India as the real face of India is now in front of everyone after the Kashmir atrocities,” She said.
Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana has summoned the 24 the session of Punjab Assembly to meet on 14 th of October this month after the Ashura, according to a notification issued by his office.
