Registered voters likely to cross 90.70 million mark after verification process

The number of total registered voters in the country are likely to cross 90.70 million mark after completion of ongoing voters lists verification process, said an official of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Talking to APP, he said the second phase of Electoral Rolls verification would be culminated on October 10. Currently, Preliminary Electoral Rolls have been displayed at over 11,500 places established across the country.

He said the update of Electoral Rolls has been started from September 20. Voters can visit nearest display centre or office of the Registration Officer for transfer, exclusion, correction or enrollment of their votes.

A voter can check his/her vote location by sending SMS containing Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 8300.

Regional Election Commissioners and District Election Commissioners were supervising and monitoring all activities relating with Annual Revision of Electoral Rolls of their respective Divisions and Districts and they also been assigned to furnish district wise progress report on the weekly basis, he added.

According to ECP, right now the country has a total of 90.31 million registered voters including 40.08 million female and 50.24 million male voters.

According to breakup, Punjab has a total 50.3824 million registered voters including 20.36 million female and 30.02 million male voters.

As many as 20.13 million registered voters are in Sindh including 8.99 million female and 10.11 million male voters.

Likewise, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a total of 10.34 million registered voters including 5.74 million female and 7.63 million male voters.

In Balochistan, there is a total of 3.33 million total registered voters including 1.42 million female and 1.91 million male voters. In Fata, there is a total of 1,722,304 registered voters including 593,164 female and 1,129,140 male voters.

In Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), there is a total of 684,824 registered voters including 3,174,264 female and 370,560 male voters.

As many as over 95 percent verification processes has been completed in Punjab, over 91 percent in Sindh, 96 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 95 percent in Balochistan and over 92 percent in Islamabad.

Election Commission has set up monitoring teams to monitor activities relating to revision of Electoral Rolls in their assigned divisions and districts.
