Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has called for the immediate integration of FATA and KP in order to put an end to the exploitation of Pashtuns in the tribal belt.

The chairman unequivocally stated that political parties should not politicise the matter for political gains and should unite for the rights of people of the tribal belt.

These views were stated by the chairman while addressing a mass gathering at a joining ceremony in Khazana area of Peshawar. Prominent figure and leader of Khazana area Tanvir Khan announced joining QWP during the ceremony.

The chairman clarified that the tribal people have rendered numerous sacrifices during the creation of Pakistan and are still fighting for the country, but no steps have been taken for development of FATA.

He called for immediate, planned and sustainable efforts for development of the area which will be possible after integrating FATA with KP. He stated that people of FATA have decided to join KP and now steps should be taken to realise the decision without any delay.

The chairman also criticised the prime minister for his indifferent attitude towards the smaller provinces and stated that the PM’s promises to put an end to load shedding by 2018 are only limited to Punjab. He further clarified that such step-motherly treatment is only promoting consternation among people of the smaller provinces.

“Because of an outdated system of power supply and transmission lines, it is impossible to end load shedding in KP due to which the province will not be able to reap the benefits of CPEC. This is a planned conspiracy intended to deprive the people of KP from the development projects of CPEC, and we will take up the issue at every forum and will continue to fight for the rights of Pashtuns,” he added.

The chairman also appealed to the international community to take notice of the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and the ceasefire violations done by the Indian armed forces. He stated that the conflict between India and Pakistan should be solved by using diplomatic channels and dialogue and that war between the countries will deprive the entire region of development.
