Lord Nazir Ahmed said Indian atrocities are going unabated in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK), but Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have yet to respond in a befitting manner, which is disappointing.

He said that Kashmiri leadership and people should revisit their approach as Indian forces continued their atrocities on one hand, while on the other fight continued for getting ministerial slots in AJK.

Lord Nazir expressed these views while speaking at a seminar held under the auspices of Iqbal International Institute for Dialogue International Islamic University (IIUI) on Saturday.

He said it was quite unfortunate that only politics was being played on the issue of Kashmir as no voice had been raised from Pakistan and Kashmir against the killing of the member of Parliament, who was fighting the case of Kashmir in Britain.

Speaking on the occasion, IIUI Rector Dr Masoon Yaseenzai urged that media, religious and political leadership and the universities should play their part in spreading awareness among masses pertaining to Kashmir issue.

He said that people had more knowledge about Panama papers leaks than the issue of Kashmir.

Dr Yaseenzai said all the people are talking about Raiwind March but there is complete silence regarding the Kashmir issue.

Dr Hassanul Ameen, executive director Iqbal International Institute for Dialogue IIUI, said the Kashmir dispute was a very serious and sensitive issue.

Therefore, he stressed the need that all other issues should be put aside for the time being and the government and people should only focus on the issue, so as to find out a solution to the problem according to the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

On the occasion, a resolution was passed which demanded India to immediately halt its barbarism in IHK, which is a source of great concern for Pakistan as well as for international community.

It was stated that the government of Pakistan, media and universities should play their role to expose the real face of India before the world, which imposed a curfew and cut the occupied valley from the rest of the world.

The resolution said that Pakistan and India should initiate comprehension dialogue for resolution of Kashmir dispute because disputes could only be resolved through parley. A lasting peace in the region could only be ensured if Kashmir issue is resolved according to aspirations of Kashmiri people and UN resolution.

It was demanded that all political prisoners, including Khurram Pervaiz should be released immediately by the Indian government.
