At least three people, including a brother of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI)’s district councillor Shad Nawaz and two policemen, were killed on Monday after militants attacked their vehicle in Rabaat Bazar area of Lower Dir district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
According to reports, Shad Nawaz remained unhurt in the attack while one assailant was injured in the crossfire.
According to police, Shad Nawaz who is an active member of the JI was travelling along with his entourage when heavily armed men opened fire at him.
“Three people were first injured and later succumbed to their injuries,” an official said.
He identified the victims as Sohail Khan who is the brother of JI’s district council member and two policemen Fazal Wahab and Zubair Khan.
