Saudi defence minister departs for home after meeting PM Nawaz, army chief

Saudi Defence Minister and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz returned home on early Monday morning after a brief visit to Islamabad.

During his visit, the defence minister held talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif about relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the situation in the Middle East and other affairs of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.

Federal Ministers, parliamentarians and high ranking military officials were also present at the meeting.

“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have been great friends and Islamabad will stand by Riyadh in the case of any danger,” PM said during the meeting.

Saudi Arabia’s defence minister called Pakistan an important country in the region and said that Pak-Saudi friendship is getting stronger and stronger with the passage of time.

After the meeting, it was said in the joint communique that both countries will increase the cooperation in different departments.
