Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) senior leader Farooq on Tuesday (today) said that the party aims to empower the common man and bring forth their demands.

Farooq Sattar is holding a consultative meeting with MNAs and MPAs of MQM.

Farooq Sattar said that he will reveal important facts in the press conference which he could not expose the other day.

“We will take MQM’s ideology forward,” said Sattar.

Farooq Sattar has announced to hold a press conference today.

The parliamentary Rangers released Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) senior leaders Farooq Sattar and Khawaja Izhar after briefly detaining them on Monday night along with several other party workers after two media houses were attacked by MQM activists following party Chief Altaf Hussain’s provocative speech.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had issued a non-bailable warrant arrest Farooq Sattar earlier today.

Farooq Sattar and Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hasan were taken into custody by the Rangers on Monday night at Karachi Press Club after suspected MQM workers attacked an ARY News office in the Saddar area of the metropolis. One person was killed and several others injured as police clashed with the angry mob. MQM leader Dr Amir Liaquat was also taken into custody from his office on I.I. Chundrigar Road.

Sattar initially attempted to resist being taken into custody but was eventually convinced to follow orders. Khawaja Izhar also accompanied him to the Rangers headquarters. DawnNews reported that Rangers officials informed the MQM leaders that DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar wanted to see them.

The Rangers also raided MQM headquarters Nine Zero Monday night, taking nine other party leaders into custody and sealing MQM offices. The paramilitary force also recovered weapons from Nine Zero, which will be sent for forensic tests.

Sections of the media alleged that MQM workers had carried out the attack after receiving directives in a speech by MQM Chief Altaf Hussain. The MQM supremo today apologised to the military for his earlier ‘anti-Pakistan’ remarks.

  1. Altaf should be ignored. He does not merit any attention. Besides his apology should be directed towards the people of Pakistan especially to the people of Karachi who he uses and misuses.

Karachites are hardworking patriotic Pakistanis they have genuine greivances and must be redressed.
